A man will remain in custody charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found in North Brisbane last week.

The body of 26-year-old Ioli Hadjilyra was found under a rail bridge at Clayfield’s Kalinga Park on September 4.

Bailey Edwards, the alleged attacker, was arrested in Lutwyche at around 12pm yesterday after members of the public alerted authorities.

The 34-year-old was charged by police Sept 10 and was scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrate Court the next day.

Mr Edwards did not appear in court and was remanded in custody until he can return to court, scheduled for early October.

Ms Hadjilyra's body was discovered in a flower bed by council workers conducting maintenance on the railroad.

Police had been unable to find any forms of identification at the crime scene, which hindered the progress of the investigation.
